so Columbus is tasked with a mission for the Queen of Spain, he is successful in this mission, reports to the Queen what he finds and is rewarded for it and you see a problem with that?

One of the most short-sighted and ignorant things modern people do when it comes to historic figures from centuries ago, is to judge them by the standards of today and ignore the norms if the times those people live. It’s the main reason most people today cannot understand history.

That's not accurate. My grandpa's level of racist outburst were par for his time. Columbus was a brutal sob thar far surpassed his time just like King Leopold of Belgium. You need to study it more.

Did I say he was a great guy? No, he was a product of him times. Stop judging historic figures like you’re watching a Marvel movie. Historic figures, with a few notable exceptions, are far too complicated to put them in a “good guy” or “bad bad” box.
