Christmas family in need

Last year I saw a few people on this board asking about families in need for Christmas so I thought I would share this story of my friends sister.
Quick background on the family. The mom married in her early 20's and had two sons. The dad abandoned the family when the boys were about 2 and 4 and moved away to Mexico. Since then, she has always held a steady job, worked hard and taken care of her boys with a smile on her face. Last year she purchased her first home in Houston after saving up and moving out of her moms house.
This April her younger son was diagnosed with cancer (leukemia) at age 11 and has been undergoing chemo and different surgeries. Last week he was re-admitted to the hospital after being weak, low platelettes and showing poor neurological signs. He is stable but still has a long way to go.
Prior to cancer, he was a huge sports nut playing football and soccer for his school. He watched the Astros win the World Series from the hospital and is always in good spirits.
The mom has had to take significant time off of work to be by her sons side in the hospital as well as pay medical bills.
Please add this young man to your prayer list this holiday season. I am also trying to round up Christmas presents for their family to help during this difficult time.

I hate to hear this. I will pray for them and would love to help them have a better Christmas.

Please share a way to help them. Praying

Cancer can suck a fat one

Why not set up some kind of account every year? TD provides enough entertainment for me each year that I would be willing to pitch in. We could “adopt” a family each year on behalf of all us degenerates and deplorables and make Christmas special for them.

In addition to prayers, how can I chip in?

is there a gofundme or anything like that for people who don't believe in the power of prayer to help?

Keep everyone up to speed on how to help make their Christmas brighter. This is clearly a family in need.

No 11 year old should go through that. Heartbreaking story.

I will be gathering some Christmas presents for the family. if anyone would like to send one shoot me an email. Jessicag6821@gmail Davian is 12, his brother is 13 and the mom is in her mid 30's. I am based out of New Orleans but will be driving to Houston to deliver.
A family friend also set up a go fund me when he was initially diagnosed, but it has not been fully funded or recently donated. It is listed under "Davian's medical funds" on go fund me. It is the one with the picture of the 11 year old boy holding a baby. Thank y'all for the support! No one does it better than the Tiger Family.

That’s a really cool idea man. Would need to take it to the help board and get Admin Buy off and way to show final product. I don’t think Gofundme’s are allowed otherwise, but if we get their support

That would be a great idea. I am sure there are quite a few friends of tigerdroppings members that we could help out each year.

that would be like winning the lottery for most of these families
how are they gonna pay the taxes on a yacht they received as a gift?

Wow. To think of the things I complain about. Shame on me.

Set up an email and people can contact you.

Bumping the thread to commend you, Jessica, for your willingness to help. Lost my father to leukemia when I was a student at LSU.
Will certainly have this family in my prayers. I already have a financial commitment to assist a similar family in the NOLA area (young woman with two boys lost her husband to leukemia this Spring), but expect I will contribute. Will e-mail you.
I challenge all here to step up. While we may not have the means to help everyone in need, we can at least help someone.
