Mitch has an RFP out to do this with bicycles in New Orleans. What could go wrong?
I live in Indianapolis, and they have a bike share. It's pretty great actually. It's cheap, and you never have to worry about someone stealing your bike because they are ugly AF, and it's not your bike anyway.
Plus, the docking stations look difficult to rob even if you're in the market for a heavy, ugly bike.

I don't understand the business model. Why rent a $9 for $3 a pop? Are umbrellas hard to come by in China? Is weather forecasts so bad that people don't know it's gonna rain and get caught without umbrellas? Is personal umbrella ownership outlawed in China?

Yeah I don't understand what the problem is with this bike sharing idea is. I guess it's like people who don't understand how uber works or something and think random guys will show up to pick you up and rape you.
You have to have a credit card to rent. It's easy as can be. Hood rats aren't going to be renting bikes and not returning them.

I mean... I don't think it's going to make the planet any cooler, but it's a nice way to get around town without having to buy a bike. It costs about the same as an average Uber ride, and you can use it all day.
I, for one, enjoy biking around town day drinking, not having to worry about the wellbeing of my bicycle as I exit bar number 9.

I could put a gross of Chinese umbrellas in my front pocket.

Me too. I did the bike share thing in Denver and Seattle over several days. It was awesome to use their bike trails and paths to go all over and explore different parts of the city.

Does NOLA have any greenways or dedicated bike paths?
The bike rentals here are plastered with Citibank advertisements, that I assumed put up the capital to buy the bikes to begin with.

I mean. Divvy works great in chicago. Cause if you don't return the bike within a certain amount of time (a couple of days I think) you get charged $2000 dollars.
One of the few things Chicago has designed well.

I got nothing. Not a single Kristen M.
That bothers me a little bit. What's happening to me.

What happens if who files a police report? The owner of the company or the person who rented the bike and is responsible to return it?
