Let's see.
When I was a kid there were no cell phones, no Playstation or X Box, no personal computers, etc, etc.
We had to drag our asses outside every day and create our own activities. We played sandlot baseball and football all the time.
I wonder if those differences could have anything to do with this growing problem.
That and how many people actually cook for their kids the majority of the time now instead of just stuffing their faces with the fast food? Fast food is disgusting, not in taste, though it can be that too, but in how unhealthy it is

Hell surprise...
And diabetes is on the rise amongst American children.
Here’s a few tests for you to underscore where the problems stem from... go into any convenience store and find something without salt or sugar. Good luck. Now, go into a grocery store, and simply avoid the outside walls of said grocery store and count the items without sugar, and/or which you would say would be good to consume. Now, list the items on menus of restaurants you frequent that you would deem healthy and not loaded with sugar, fat, and/or salt.
Best of luck to you.
Truth be known, if you are intent on truly eating healthy, you’re going to have to both shop smart, and eat at home.

What they’re eating is the biggest problem. Active kids can always eat worse. All kids are not going to be active, just not practical. Need to start taxing high fructose corn syrup.

Why is "tax it" the solution to irresponsibility.

Start with gov subsidies for production of Corn syrup

I thought Manchelle Obama fixed all of this by giving the kids shitty school lunches???

I'm not real big on using the tax system to encourage behaviors , but seeings as how it is obvious that we are now all on the hook to pay for the healthcare of our neighbors, we all certainly should have a say in what kind of lifestyle our neighbors lead.
I can't be the only person wondering why in all this debate about healthcare insurance so many people don't agree that people who make unhealthy risky choices in life should pay more for their healthcare insurance.

Would you rather the fat ppl get taxed or Everyone pay for their diabetes

What about warning labels on coke cans that say "this product makes you a fatty", like on cigarettes
Or should these people, most who are uneducated, be expected to research medical studies to find what they shouldn't consume?

Sugar is in all of the food these kids are eating and it is making them fat. Sugar is as bad for you if not worse than tobacco. The problem is very few people know and understand this.

They’re already on there if people would take the tiny amount of time to read the actual contents before purchasing, but most people are fully aware of it, and buy it anyway because they want it. Secret is the first items are that which is found most, and in soda, that would be water, and then sugar, and not just sugar, but super processed sugars your body has difficulty breaking down.

well, a tax should fix that.

So exercise and diet is a key to not being fat. Shocking!

The answer COULD very well be a fast food tax.
You go into McDonalds and order your food, you then step on a scale and the tax rate is figured based on your weight.
I was out with the wee ones last weekend, they wanted Happy Meals, a really rare treat for them, so we stopped in. The place was pretty packed, and I'd guess the average customer had a body weight that was at least 30% heavier than their ideal weight. DISGUSTING.

You think only fat people use high fructose corn syrup?
Posted on 10/11/17 at 8:50 am to Displaced
It's only going to get worse. All the fat kids are going to grow up and become even more obese adults and have more fat kids and the cycle will just intensify. Technology will get even better and nobody will have Any reason to go outside anymore but just stay home and eat their sugary crap. We could be looking at near 50% in the future
Posted on 10/11/17 at 8:50 am to HeyHeyHogsAllTheWay
I'm still anxiously waiting for someone on the ot to admit to having fat kids.
We all know they are out there, reading this, thinking "aww shite" to themselves.
