this is exactly correct.

you shouldn't treat others well because you expect something in return for it. you do it because it is the right thing to do/right way to act.

If others treat you badly, turn the other cheek, be the bigger man, etc.

Your parents taught you to shrug your shoulders at blatant racial and ethnic discrimination?

Interesting.

These initiatives are in direct opposition to “do not treat others differently based upon their gender or race”.

ETA: you’re essentially saying, “when racial discrimination occurs just shrug your shoulders and go on with life”.

no. i'm saying "life isn't fair, but work your hardest and treat others with kindness and you will succeed. Noone can prevent you from finding success besides yourself if you do things the right way."

And just shrug your shoulders at racial, ethnic, and sexual discrimination.

You'd fit in well in the 60s.

you want me to go stand in front of Chick-Fil-A with a picket sign. that way of thinking is defeatist and a waste of time. Control the things you can control. It's a lot more productive than worrying about shite you can't change.

do you think all American families should and do encourage their children in a similar manner?

you don't think the BLM riots were a waste of time? I mean I guess some people got free TVs out of the deal but what systematic changes did they accomplish? Not shite.

I'd bet any time they spent working hard and setting their own goals and striving to accomplish them wouldve outweighed the financial gain of a free flat screen

I imagine in modern days, it's about equal to washing someone's feet. You know like Jesus did. I think he even washed Judas's feet after the last supper.

I have no problem with any of the snippet from the article. Being of service to people is fine. It brings people to your level. Allowing yourself to be degraded, or degrading yourself is not fine. It lowers you to other people's level. As far as white people leading the charge to help black people? That's a great idea, some are very receptive of genuine help from white people, some are not at all. How do we bridge that gap is the issue.

I 100% believe this is true, and I also 100% believe that DEI initiatives are horseshite discrimination. These are not mutually exclusive ideals. You can be taught and believe both of these things. It would be nice if lefties believed it, too.

Do you not realize the ideology you are advocating for people to ignore is actively at odds with this tenet you are espousing?

Well ok then. That's the perfect reason to codify race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation as conditions for hiring.

Not defending forced hiring on any metric.

Simply demonstrating that there are many metrics that come in to play that don't result in the best candidate getting hired. Because life isn't always fair.
