If shots must be fired you can use EOF if the situation allows. The man had a knife and at the very least should and could have been wounded instead of killed. A trained professional should know this and as a police officer you know the risk when you take the job. Having a badge does not make you the law it makes you law enforcement.

Certain cases that statement is true
We dont know that. Watching this vvideo though, it certainly doesn't speak well for that statement. He was murdered as he walked away.

That is an issue that should be addressed . I have witnessed more restraint from young privates in the Army while deployed.
Same with me when I was in the marine corps. Thanks for your continued service.

Cop was on out of his car six seconds before he shot. Lots of other officers there, how can you evaluate the situation so quick? And the first shot was a head shot, can't just shoot the leg or something?
I think he is screwed

Its ridiculous some police officers think they are above a murder charge

the bottom line is that the guy was murdered.. and this is pretty fricking similar to some recent cases too.
no one is going to be shocked when another corrupt officer walks, though.

I assure you I haved faced similar situations while deployed. If we failed to follow procedure we would have been brought up on charges. It is not easy but when you take a high risk job you do so knowing the laws you must follow.

Couldn't pay me enough to be a cop nowadays. This dude is done.

It was a knife.

Why couldnt he just stop and listen ?
High on drugs, but officers know that when dealing with a guy in the middle of a highway.

He would be alive if he wasn't high and/or listened to commands.
However, although he had a knife in his hand the officer had plenty of room to retreat and engage if necessary, he wasn't in a small closed room or up against a wall with him. The officer didn't panic he was just a dumbass and put himself in the position he's in, not to mention make the rest of us look terrible.

I assume that in Illinois first degree murder is premeditated murder. It is COMPLETELY absurd for this cop to be charged with premeditated murder. He should get off with manslaughter honestly. The kid had a weapon.

I thought the black guy was a cop at first ,with the way he was holding his hands. Looks like he was holding something that looked like a gun to me ,or something similar. Here's how to not get shot by the police:
1) Don't wield a knife
2) Stay off PCP
3) Don't slash tires with said knife
4) Don't walk down the middle of a highway at 1 am.
5) If you do these things, put your hands in the air and obey police direction.
Cop didn't need to shoot though. I have no doubt that he was afraid and this probably had little to do with racism. Dudes on PCP with knifes are extremely dangerous.

What did the officer kick away from the body after he was dead?

First of all he was not running, he was walking when the cop gunned him down.
Running, walking, crawling, fricking doing the Super Bowl Shuffle, none of that matters. All that matters is this kid was no threat to anyone. The cop who riddled him with bullets is guilty as hell of murder. He's a cold blooded murder. Period.
And one more thing. This happened in October 2014. If you or I did what that cop did, do you think it would take then over a year to charge us with murder?
