That the Tribune is giving it major attention may help keep the scum in jail. The gang he belonged to were called the Rippers.

Two other members of the Ripper Crew are still in jail. One got off death row when the Gov. did the Everybody gets off Death Row that so maddened anybody who gave a damn.

I pointed this out too but nobody seemed to care.
There are documented cases of people caught up in that who were innocent but pled guilty anyway in order to avoid worse punishment.
