Only issue I know of is that you look like a giant homo when driving one.

I'm about to roll over 200k on my suburban and I've had little to no issues

I wouldn't hesitate to buy an American car or truck made after about 05. They made some bad ones in the 90s for sure. The worst 2 vehicles I've ever owned were made by Nissan and the wife's BMW that we ditched last year was an expensive POS.

My son's fiance has one, 15 I think. Car has had issues with water pump and battery. Also had to keep putting cooling in it, I am honestly not exactly sure on the details though. I would pass on anything in that market not made by Honda or Toyota, but that is my preference.

Edit to add: Very recently I mean, a month or so ago.

The ecotec engine is pretty reliable. I believe the smaller 1.4 liter is chain driven which is less mainetenance. The larger 1.8 is a timing belt which requires a change every 100k miles. I've had really good luck with the smaller of the two engines.

I know someone who owns a Cruz, no trouble at all with about 70K.

It's a good car. It has the highest possible rating in Cosumer Reports in reliability and it is considered a "Top Pick" in the class. That's about as glowing of a recommendation as you can get these days. Pick up a copy and read the details before you buy.

ETA: The diesel models are supposed to be particularly good. 50+ MPG. The gas models are more popular.

My grandmother (no pics) has had one for about 5 years. No complaints or issues. It is easy for the olds to get in and out of

That's not an accomplishment anymore. Spend your money wisely:

2017 Civic

2017 Sentra

2017 Corolla

Might be the GOAT for hypermiling at least as far as non EV's go.
