I know nothing about this level of chess. Why the timer ?
There are different time constraint types of games with different general strategies. This game was likely a 5 minute blitz game with both players having 5 minute limits for all of their moves. In this game because you don't have as much time to think about the tactics players might tend to focus more on pawn structure than calculating tactics move to move. There are even bullet games with 1 minute for each player. Players are pretty much just trying to kill the timer with those games and make a bunch of moves quickly without totally blundering the game away.
I prefer playing long time constraint games and correspondence games because I think I can learn more from them. One of my friends did tell me that bullet games are good for developing quick pattern recognition though.

I want to be that good at chess
Where do I start?
Read some books. Play thousands of games. Study GM level games. Analyse all of your own games. Devote 8 hours to it every day for the next 15 or so years. And you still probably won't be that good.

Never talk shite with a Grandmaster, especially one that looks and talks a little like Lawrence Fishburne.

Did you know Howard stern is a 1700 level chess player?
I don't know what that means, but I assume it's pretty good.
Some dude called into the show a couple weeks back in the middle of the game and Howard gave him the moves over the phone that made the guy win. Pretty impressive.

It's an above average club player. It actually takes a lot of work just to be an average club player. It really is pretty impressive, and I didn't know that. I'm only like a 1300-1400 level player. I've only been seriously working on it for the last 8 months or so though.
There are also different rating pools, so that affects some of what means. But this gives you an idea.
Grandmaster 2600 and up
Senior master 2400–2599
Master 2200–2399
Expert 2000–2199
Class A 1800–1999
Class B 1600–1799
Class C under 1600
This is a decent chart I pulled from wiki. A FIDE (international chess federation) GM which is what the guy in the link is is rated at least 2500 and keeps the title for life even if his rating drops below that. In reality even a strongish class C player would whoop the frick out of most normal people.

Good stuff.
I initially thought the en passant capture was executed improperly but after further review, I see that it was not.

Reminds me a lot of George Whitfield, the QB guru that comes on College Gameday.

I've only lost a few chess matches...
All of them being to my older brother who fought me.
I watched that video several times and I can say it was easly trimmed from at least a 2 hour (+/-) match... ..

Fishburne played a sreet-wise chess badass in "Bobby Fisher", a pretty good movie on it's own, but great for chess heads.
