I had always heard he was an artist, but it's pretty weird to actually see some of his art. Spooky. It's pretty nice art.

He was very talented. He could paint/sketch architecture? like a professional. But the reason he wasn't accepted into the Vienna art school was because he wasn't that good at depicting people. He was specifically critiqued on his ability to paint hands. If you look at Mary's hand it does look a little weird compared to her body

Same with the full body as getting the proportions of the torso and extremities to look right, is a higher skill.
Napoleon was saving money by tucking his hand into his vest and he was already paying the guy an arm and a leg fee. Which is where the saying "they charge an arm and a leg," comes from.

He could also paint an apartment in one afternoon, two coats.
