One of our local bloggers who used to be a local reporter (she covered the Crystal Rogers case extensively for years) posted this synopsis of the press conference in case anyone was interested in highlights:

You can’t be certain it wasn’t a paid hit. Security isn’t set up like the president or even a large public event with large police presence along with private security. This was a few local cops and Kirks private detail. In other words it made for a soft target. It doesn’t take a trained assassin to operate in that environment. What is peculiar is how the shooter vanished without a trace. It just doesn’t fit the lone wolf narrative. Sure, he could’ve scurried off the roof, dipped in the crowd, got in his car and drove off. Would have to be very lucky to disappear tho. That leads me to believe he had help. This was well orchestrated. If the FBI is sitting on evidence they need to act fast or this is going to blow up.

He's a college aged male on a college campus. It's going to take a little time to go through the surveillance footage. It will be particularly difficult if he was a student at that university.

Crowder catches a lot of flak, but they’ve got a massive research staff and member base digging for them. So when they bring something like this forward, it’s not baseless. They have also spent millions, yes millions, on lawsuits the last decade. I doubt they are just shooting from the hip. Going to be interesting what comes out today.
