Taking delivery of 2021 SUV this week, is a ceramic coating worth the cost? I just mentioned SUV as I would think cost is based on vehicle size.
thanks

I’ll never buy a new vehicle and not get it coated within a few weeks ever again.

Do you plan on running it through a car wash or hand wash it only?

I would think a clear wrap would work better. Not the whole thing, just where you need it.

yes, entire vehicle. We usually keep 4-5 years. I never go thru a carwash. A detail guy comes by couple of times per month,

Just had a '19 black car totally clay barred and ceramic coated... it's like a freakin' mirror and way easier to clean without water spots. It was around $700 but worth it IMO.

Thinking of doing it on the '17 but will likely not be worth it if we trade it in any time soon.

I have some combination of PPF and ceramic on every vehicle I own. It depends on what you want out of the car really. If i had a white car i planned on keeping 1-2 years, i wouldn't do anything. But all my cars are black and i keep them forever so i have one or both on all of them. My daily SUV has just ceramic. I paint corrected it myself and applied it myself. My toy car has PPF on the front clip with ceramic on top of the PPF and on the rest of the car. I paid to have that one professionally done. Also if you want the best shine you need to do a paint correction first, even on a new car. Factory orange-peel is bad once you've seen it next to one thats had it removed.

The ceramic guy told us to avoid carwash tunnels, but said the the spray-it-yourself ones are fine. A quick spray off with the soap, then water, then spot-free rinse. It dries on the drive home.

Soft touch drive thru is ok just nothing that uses stiff bushes bc it will scratch the coating.

I've seen rednecks drive their muddy trucks straight in... I'd still be worried about sand in the soft brushes.

$700 is $700!

If hand washing only on a very regular basis, worth it.

Otherwise, not worth it.

ETA... Getting the wheels done is definitely worth it.

it's true. but, it calculates all vehicles including fleet and such. i kept one of my trucks for 14 years and then bought 3 in 4 years. kinda fricks up the average.

Worth every penny to me, probably not worth it for others. I will get every vehicle ceramic coated within the first week of purchasing from here on out.

Are there any places you would suggest to get the ceramic coating done?
