This is the government declaring an emergency and enacting temporary restrictions. Has been done before and will be done again.

You mean like when they temporarily enacted income tax during World War II?

Got it, you don’t think religion, speech, assembly, and press are equally protected by the first amendment.

Is it possibly because he’s an attention whore who knowingly disobeyed a directive from the governor based solely on his desire to have his name and church/personal tax haven plastered all over the news?

Because that’s exactly what every one of these churches present as.

I'm sure he is. Still has rights though.

The law is plain and simple, if you are capable of reasonable and nuanced thought. The lack of successful restraining orders proves that. Churches have to abide by the quarantine thresholds. Period.

Many businesses apparently dont. Whats different?

You also don’t realize that equal protection has nothing to do with and doesn’t refer specifically to any of the rights afforded by the first amendment, right?

They don’t willingly congregate hundreds of at-risk individuals together in one structure at one time.

Yes. Very much like that but you are stupid if you think they will keep a ban of over 10 people in place after this is over.

Essential ones are. In no way is his service essential. In no way did he need to disobey a temporary order to spread his message.

Pastor was wrong.

Who said I was talking about Circle K.

Most manufacturers and factories are still open. Hundreds of people under the same roof.

Yes. Producing items with economic value. Said another way, the business has value to balance with the risk.

Churches have no tangible value on this physical front

I saw a John Deere plant open, hundreds of employees. Cintas was open, hundreds of employees. A spice factory, hundreds of employees. An engine rebuilding plant, thousands of employees.

If your business is considered essential then it is. I went to work today with 150 other people.

Difference is we are essential. If we don’t go to work there are goods that won’t be available to the public.

There was no legitimate reason for the pastor to do this.

Churches provide plenty of value to their members and communities.

Its one of the biggest and oldest businesses.

I never referred to it in an equal protection clause sense my apologies for poor semantics. However, don’t you think that if you can do it to one of the 1st amendment rights, you can do them to alll?

My favorite one here, bike repair shops were deemed essential.

Second, and most importantly, the press is essential; church is not.

Logically I agree, but how and why were you able to distinguish that and has SCOTUS?
