In summary, the virus doesn’t know your age. It only knows what other issues you have that it can further destroy.

We'd have to dig into the data to control for some variables, but I'd wager that if you're living life as a land whale, your body is about as prepared to fight this virus as your average 80 year old.

IV doses of vitamin C

I did see a report of affected people receiving this in France. Of course this was along with other medications....

Apparently some in NY State, too.

Wife and I haven't been to the doctor or needed medical care in over 10 years other than when I went to a walk-in clinic a couple years ago for an ear infection. Our children haven't needed it at any point in their entire lives(4 & 5).

He got it from yo yo dieting for Castaway. I'm sure it's very well controlled and he follows medical advice. That seems to be the exception out there in the general population.

A reason why this virus is spreading is that most people that get it DON’T get really sick. But, enough of them do get sick to the point that they take up a very limited resource (ventilators).

Celebs are also getting tested before getting really sick - the rest of us have to mostly be about ready to make a turn for the worst to get a test.

There are actually plenty of instances of mainstream medicine using IV vitamin C as a supportive treatment for infectious diseases, often with positive results. I’m not qualified to say whether it’s truly indicated here, but given that it’s a water-soluble vitamin, it probably isn’t going to cause any harm if administered by an experienced physician.

If this virus is so dangerous why hasn’t anyone famous passed away yet or much less been hospitalized?

Weinstein is on the clock. He's old and had to use a walker before contracting the Covid.

There have been a number of older jazz musicians in New York that have died from corona, not celebrities but sidemen on many recordings.

It's clear that people are dying but the celebrities have money and get VIP treatment at the ICU so it's not likely that we'll see Covid take down a lot of celebs.

From the article you linked:
quote:

Weber, 34, said vitamin C levels in coronavirus patients drop dramatically when they suffer sepsis, an inflammatory response that occurs when their bodies overreact to the infection. “It makes all the sense in the world to try and maintain this level of vitamin C,” he said.

Would you mind linking the studies? I would like to read up on these. Thx.

Oh for frick's sake.

This was actually reported on GMA this morning

I know a very well known physician in NOLA...who once ran Charity Hospital as Medical Director, who was told his colon cancer was inoperable and to go home and get his affairs in order. He then cured himself with high dose vitamin c infusions and other vitamin and mineral additives to the IV's. Don't knock it till you try it. A bunch of docs in NOLA that called him crazy showed up at the back door to his clinic after their diagnosis... Many Countries are experimenting with this therapy for Covid right now.

A lot of the stuff I used to be able to access as a grad student is now behind a paywall, but I’ll keep looking. Most searches just take you right to the Linus Pauling studies, which I tend to avoid since they’re over 80 years old and not without issues.

I did at least try to find a few quick and dirty resources for anybody who’s interested in reading about it, though. The first link below is obviously about use of IV vitamin C in cancer treatment, not infectious disease, but the citations represent a pretty broad range of mainstream studies (and results, to be fair) and show that there are some established protocols and guidelines for safety. The description of the clinical trial that I can access doesn’t cite anything, but at least demonstrates there’s enough interest to support a trial for potential application in treating COVID-19.

2014 Islamabad study on babies with pneumonia

To be clear, though, I never claimed it would be effective in the first place. I was just trying to point out that it wasn’t really a new or fringe idea, and there’s likely no harm in it even if the benefits are ultimately negligible.

You must not be paying attention, it seems like the only people that get it are celebrities. Nobody knows anyone personally with this phantom disease.
