Anywhere but here, bro. And, Alabama is a beautiful State. I don't know anything about Slapout, though.

All in jest. Almost everything below Birmingham and north of Baldwin County is terrible.

Punishing kids for drinking or smoking will only make them want them to do it more.

Yeah, Baldwin County is nice. My friends took me to Huntsville and Decatur and I loved it. North Alabama is beautiful.

I'm from the county to the west of Hunstville and north of Decatur. Nice places to raise a family (but suck as a single male), and fairly cheap. The Tennessee Valley in general is nice.

I know I'm derailing the thread, but Charlie is a terrible poster (and I suspect a liar), so I don't feel bad.

I think it is difficult for a parent to teach their kids they need to wait until a certain age to do a thing. If they are doing things that you don't think is wrong, but they are just not ready for then you are going to have a tough road in getting him to see it your way.

You can ground him, or otherwise punish him, but that will only work until the punishment is over. It will strain your relationship for the last few years he his home.

At 16, I found out my son smokes and I hate it. I thought of all the stories I heard growing up of things parents did to kids they caught smoking and realized they all had one thing in common; they still smoked as adults. I made him do research on the impact that smoking has on the body and write me a paper. He still smokes, but he is more informed and hopefully he will wise up.

Good Luck.

I just want y'all to know that I think it's adorable that some people are answering him sincerely.

hey if your kid wants to unwind with a beer after a long day at school, the OT is not the place where you should expect people to think that's a bad thing.

Let him know youre not okay with it based on simple physical facts of what long term drinking can do, assuming he starts regularly drinking at 15.....try to scare him into it, and make it clear what drinking does. That's really all you can do, because if he wants to drink he'll do it if he wants to bad enough.

Its a pretty bad schtick. But the fact that he deleted all his post in the alcoholic cry for help thread he started makes me wonder.

Exactly what I'm pretty much saying. As long as he knows the effects, even though he still may not completely comprehend the impact it can have on your life, friends/family etc.

I love reading these threads. If the OT collectively raised a kid, that would be the most fricked up human on earth.

Its sad when I am the voice of reason in these threads!

Get him shite faced drunk and give him the worst hangover of his life. Make sure you wake him up bright and early to do yard work in the heat.

I sipped beers at 15-17, started getting drunk around the end of senior year. Stuck to the books brah, if his grades are good I'd just sit his arse down and tell him to hold off. If he sucks at school theres no hope, im sorry.
Be cool about it, otherwise hes going to start popping molly, acid, and blow behind your back.
