I have cats and dogs.
The cat isn't going to shout an alarm when someone tries to get into your house.
A good dog will have your back when shite hits the fan. A cat will sit there and stare.

Sounds like you need to quit being a shitty owner and walk/exercise your dog

Dogs require so much more training, and rarely get it, rarely get enough time outside, walking, playing, being a dog. They go stir crazy.
If people don't have two hours a day for a dog, they should not get one.
at least an hour a day and several on the weekend.
A cat is happy with a half hour being brushed, and 10 minutes chasing some crumpled piece of 8 x 11 paper and fetching it back for you.

I have never bought an animal.
My mother had big dogs to provide security.
I have had two women who got cats.
I don't have any of either now.

Dogs are awesome. It's amazing how they can positively impact quality of life.

The 20 downvotes on my post prove we have a nice portion of pillow biting power bottoms on here.

This debate will always be circular.
Pets are like tools.
It depends on what you need to have done. Some need a hammer. Some need a screwdriver.
If you are a highly successful and very busy individual, you prefer a good cat. It's independent and you and the cat can spend time together at a mutually exclusive time.
If you are a lazy guy who works an hourly wage and is insecure and needs someone or something to help build your self esteem, you get a dog.
No need for insults or name calling.
We have different preferences that is all.
(Sarcasm intended above)

Because this thread isn't about why cats are better pets than dogs - it's about why cats are lower maintenance for someone who doesn't want a pet.

Cats are worthless. They have devolved to the point that they're now SCARED of rats and will mew and hide if a rodent turns up in the house.
Considering that's the reason cats were domesticated in the first place, to control rodent populations when humans developed agriculture, one wonders why anyone would keep a cat around the house.

Thats completely false. When we had outside cats, we had a dead rat under our carport every week. Every now then they would kill a snake. There is about 400 acres of canefields behind our street so cats were nessary. If you have a cat locked in an apartment or house in a city, you really shouldn't have rats in there in the first place

Yup. OP should have never gotten a pet of any sort in the first place. Probably didn't think that this is an actual living thing that he was getting, not just a possession.

Dude you are stupid. Cats kill like billions of animals a year and are the reason why bird populations are down.
You can have your pussy arguments about cats vs dogs but cats are the supreme predator on earth. No doubt about it.

No. No, they're not.
Cats are cool but dogs are the best.
BS..."dog people" could care less that their constantly barking "children" ruin a neighborhood. They don't seem to understand that their precious pet is a total nuisance to those who have to live next to them!

Sounds like you are just a shotty dog owner.
And what do you expect when you leave and just leave the dog a puppy pad. Ever heard of crate training?

I take the dog out every three hours when I'm home, amd let it run around while I'm gone in my apartment. It's funny all these dog people saying I shouldn't have gotten a pet are the same people that probably have labs or outside dogs that sit in a pen outside all day while they are away.
