They are already engaged in a slow death. They deserve instant near death level pain with potential mutilation.

Can you do something to the bolts so they can't be easily unscrewed? Maybe put a spot of weld on them?

That’s not how that works. It’s part of exhaust pipe. Nothing to bolt.

Who do they sell them to? That would seem to be how to stop this, do away with the market for them

That’s pretty close to the gas tank to be welding.

Royal Nissan got hit a month ago while closed. Motion sensors went off. Manager checked cameras & spotted perps. Called BRPD whose HQ is about 2 blocks away (Old Womens Hospital). Took BRPD 15 minutes to respond. Perps where gone in 5.

Should he able to make a bait truck, fill it with some boom boom, and wait for the thieves to come.

There’s an abandoned tundra on the side of the road a couple of miles from my house. It’s been there for at least a week and does not have an orange sticker on it yet. I’m pretty sure it’s a bait car

That also doesn't work well if you actually ever park your vehicle somewhere else

They contain precious metals, so the actual converters never see the light of day.

Approximately how much money do they get for the average converter?

Really there needs to be severe penalties for junkyards accepting these and manufacturers have to start designing cars to tuck the converters against the engine and firewall to make it harder to steal. I know the newer Mazdas are designed like this.
