Exactly!!! Every time I go to Ivars they always add at least two extra drinks to my card. I refuse to ever use a card there again. The 3rd time burned me up. It seems like some things never change over there even with new owners.

No need to trust them. You have fraud protection

Yeah, Ivar's is pretty notorious for that... but you have fraud protection with a Credit Card, you can dispute the charge.

Im aware, I'd rather not have to deal with that if it can be easily avoided

If they take credit cards, why not just tip on the card?

Key part. Not all places with cash bars have card readers, events have cash only stands, I've only seen one valet stand with a card reader, coat checks, beer at sporting events, etc.

Cash is the only payment accepted everywhere.

Use my AMEX Skymiles card and pay off at the end of month with 1 exception...

Most mom/pop convince stores in Ga will not take debit/credit for less than a $3-$5 purchase so I use my debit card for my breakfast biscuit and coffee at a place that will let me get $10 back in cash to use the rest of my day for cokes, water etc. on my travels.

Usually have anywhere from $3-$7 that I drop in the "vacation bag" at the end of day.

That little bit of change really adds up with no noticeable affect on my budget...

Not so fast, my friend.

Cashless businesses on the rise.

Outside of that crazy visa reward, that's a terrible business model.

I almost never use a debit card because it's tied to my bank account.

Just set up a max limit per day that can be drawn from your account. If someone try's anything, the bank will reimburse you.

I use CC and DC.
