What are the advantages of buying a vehicle from CarMax? Seems overpriced when I look at their website and compare with KBB.

Convenience.
Online shopping.
Big inventory.
No haggle pricing.
Backed by a trusted name.

I don’t care for them but can see why others like the model.

My parents have used them a few times. I tried to
Trade in a car one time and they low balled the hell out of it. Then when I was walking out they said let’s talk numbers. My response was I thought you had a no haggle policy, they truly don’t.

Do they call it ‘CarMax’ because you will pay the maximum price?

Why not call it CarMin?

I recently bought a car from CarMax in Shreveport and have no complaints. The process was really easy and if I paid a little extra for that I don't mind.

Turns out the car had too dark of tint on the back windows. I don't know jack shite about tint as I never really make any modifications to a vehicle. I got pulled over in Bunkie on my way back from LSU game this season and they wrote me a ticket for it. Called CarMax and asked them why they sold me a vehicle with illegal tint and a brand new inspection sticker on it. They apologized and said the place they use down the street for inspections should have never let it pass. They paid for my ticket and also reimbursed me to have legal tint put on the car. Pretty awesome customer service.

Prices are higher than a dealership and they don’t negotiate. So if you just want to go buy a car without the pressure of salesman and pay more.. go for it.

Also, don’t be suprised if the car is dirty af or something is wrong with it. Usually they wait until you notice something to fix said issue.

If you really want to go that route, use Texas direct Auto in Houston.

I bought a car from CarMax. Was quick and the sales people were fantastic. Absolutely zero pressure. Couldn't be any more happy about the process. Car was clean inside and out and have had no problems with it whatsoever

I needed a very specific vehicle. carmax puts its entire inventory on its web and if you want a vehicle from Houston or mobile they will transport it for you for a fee.

that's a good heads up on the trade in potential.
