I've saved thousands of dollars and countless hours of waiting on repairs over the years by plugging my own tires and repairing windshield cracks.
The money saved is great, but the time saved is priceless!
I plugged a tire on the wife's (no pics) brand new car on the side of the interstate a few weeks ago. Quicker to plug and fill with air than it was to change the tire.

If you have sensors in your windshield you might prefer the shards of glass once you check your bill
This ^^^
I'd ride that thing busted up till they make me. I'd rather a vehicle without sensors knowing what I know now.

I think they got offended when I told them to pound sand.
Much sand is pounded in order to make glass.

As you will notice they do more than just auto glass so I guess they don't need to be in on the scam. Also, they said it wasn't guaranteed to not need a calibration, only that it should not need one but there was a chance that it would have to be calibrated. They do not calibrate at this shop so they just make money on the install.
It worked, and I'm happy to save $500

Is there much of a market for colon shaped windshields, though?

People with heads up their asses need to at least see where they’re going.

I had a 0 dollar windshield deductible on insurance policy. It wasn’t much and I’ve used it twice. Didn’t affect my rates either
