Brakes started making a grinding noise last night. Will be traveling for holidays so need to get it looked at today.

Where do you bring your car for repairs in Baton Rouge? TIA

Brakes aren’t too hard to change. Swing by an auto parts store and they may even check them for you and let you know if it’s an immediate need or can wait until after Christmas. It might just be the tattler.

That’s not a mechanic deal if you’re a little handy

I agree with you, but there are certain tasks that other people want to outsource.

I don't know this guy's deal, but if he's a lawyer it might be more cost effective to take his car in and work while the repair happens.

I do my own brakes, but Ragusas on Government Street is trustworthy for services.

Not making a grinding noise...OP is way past the sqeek/squeal the tattler gives.

$100 bet the front rotors/pads will need to be changed. Definitely if OP waits much longer.

To the OP...pretty much anywhere can handle the job. Brakes are easy.

Misspelled “breaks”.

Duh.

OP, you disappoint.

Brakes aren’t too hard. A lot of places do them.

Firestone. Goodyear. Midas. Pretty much every indie shop.

Now that’s a little more of a hassle and cost.

I’d suggest the place I used to use for other stuff but the old man left and I just use my buddy now.

Goodyear on Lee. Been going there for 20 years

Don't do it yourself or go to an auto parts store and expect some crackhead to know anything

If low miles, under 100k, could get away with just a pad change.

Need a ratchet and a C clamp to get it done. Pop off the tires, take one bolt off the caliper to open it up for pad replacement, grease the pad, lock em in, c clamp to push piston in, tighten caliper top and bottom bolts.

40 minute job.

If many miles change rotors. But you can gamble and do later. Only bad thing is warped rotors will vibrate on braking.

If your brakes are making noise just put some grease between the pad and the rotor and that should get them good as new

Easy now. You're going to get somebody killed, man.

NTB on Coursey (formerly at the corner of Airline and Florida) has always treated my family and I extremely well for tires and alignments. Haven't had brake issues to take to them yet but I would likely give them a shot if/when I need to.

Wonder if you should specify which side of the pad to grease...especially if we are giving tips on how to do a brake job on the OT?
