Car shopping - “click here for our best price”

Why do dealerships have a price listed for a vehicle and then a link that says “get our absolute lowest price by clicking here”.
You click, submit your info so they can harass you for months, then the “lowest price” they offer you is the same fricking price originally listed.
WTF? I will not be insulted while car shopping. Why do they do this? Do they think consumers will just be like “oh ok that’s their lowest price then”? Hell no! I won’t even get serious with a dealership until they come down at least $4,000 off the asking price. And I always get them to come down around $5,000-$6,000 in the end.

If you click and it isn't the same price, it is to get around MAP pricing.

I just make up a number an email, do my research, and then go in person.
