Car apparently pulled out of a McDonalds into the band...Car was not part of the parade according to people on WKRG.
11 high school kids injured. Hopefully nothing serious.

12 injured and 4 critical. 73 year old gentleman from Fairhope excelerated onto Hwy 59 into the band. Sad situation

Well, the route itself wasn't impacted. And given the crowd size it was actually beneficial that they kept the parade rolling and people occupied. Allowed for EMS to get to the hospitals quicker and they could keep parade goers from walking through the crash scene.

The SUV was a part of the parade. It was staged behind the GS band and the 73 year old man's foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator. There is a video of the band and SUV before the accident in the following link:
