Can you share how much time was invested by you before the deal fell apart

Sure, no problem. The car had the trim level that we wanted and popped up on out cargurus search. Spent about 10 mins looking at it. Made a call, tried to deal, didn't hapoen, another 3 mins. Another 20 mins between working the deal and telling them GFY (in a sense). Maybe 40 mins total.

Incorrect. I asked others if they had ever walked away from a car deal under the same circumstances as I described.

No

This is stupid Facebook crap

You spent less than an hour. You didn't get what you wanted. You felt like bitching an moaning for three times the amount of time that you invested in original event.

This is what Facebook was made for.

Please use it.

Neither party was time invested. They owed you nothing.

Where is the line on what I can bitch about on the OT vs. Facebook?

I don’t want to offend any of the more sensitive folks on the OT. Will take that shite to the housewives on Facebook who can handle it.

Hey you dumbass it’s $100 fee on a multi-thousand dollar purchase. Shut the frick up and pay it.

I didn't read all of the posts but there are several like the above quote but not as harsh. While I agree that it's only another $100 I agree with you walking out; it's you're money.

Few years ago buying my wife a new car and I told the guy what I was willing to pay. He went to his manager came back and said we have a deal. Then gave me the but we have to add $199 recording fee or some bullshite like that because its required by the State. I told him I didn't care what fees he had to pay we agreed upon a price. He gave me the well that is for the car but we have to add this. I started to complain and my wife butts in and says its only $200 and I really like the car. (I will never negotiate a car price again with my wife present).

Bottom line IMHO is it's you're money and you spend it how you want. They have a bunch of cars they are trying to sell and if they don't want to come off that $100-$200 there are other dealerships that might. As I told my wife when we walked out and I paid the extra $200, We/You're the only one with you're money but there are a bunch of dealerships out there with the same car.

My wife isn't speaking to me right now. ..lol. it's even funnier because this would be the car that she would drive daily.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I agree 100%. They can pay for their fees. I will not do it.

Have never understood this logic, you probably wouldn't pay $300 for a TV if the going price for the model is $200.00, you are throwing away $100.00, but suddenly on a large dollar purchase that same $100.00 becomes worthless.

Exactly. $100 bucks is $100 bucks. It's the principle at this point. I will not pay their bullshite document fee and if everyone else would do the we wouldn't have this problem

They used to add on “ad valorem” tax and claim it was required by state law. It wasn’t. A class action lawsuit in Louisiana shut that down.

A few years later, consumers filed a similar suit in Texas. But “strict construction” pro-business judges refused to allow a class action. Each consumer had to file his own suit over $100;or so, which isn’t worth it.

Stop being paranoid about dropping the soap, you’re not getting screwed. $100 in doc fees is very low and just part of the process. If a dealer waives the doc fee for you and charges it to somebody like Gravy, what do you think would happen. Gordon or Morris would have a class action suit and you would have to go somewhere else for service on your vehicle. Since you didn’t buy the vehicle from the other dealership you would be a lower priority in the service dept. Buy the vehicle, enjoy it, and move on.
If you need that $100, don’t tip the waitress next few times you eat out.

WTF? Why should the waitress need to pay for the doc fee?

I can't make sense out of what you are saying, but thanks for responding. I didn't ask then to drop the fees. I asked them to reduce the sales price to the same amount as the fees. They wouldn't do it, which is fine.

I bought the same car from a texas dealer today. Ironically the fees were $40 less than these assholes tried to charge me.

Moral of the story: don't back down when you smell bullshite. All car dealers are liars.

I hope you’re not driving to Texas to save $40
