If you have any type of mortgage tied to your home that is paid off make sure Capital One filed appropriate paperwork with the Clerk of Court to clear the liens. We are having major problems with Capital One in this regard and have a home we are selling with act of sale this Friday. We've been on Capital one's arse to get appropriate paperwork filed for over a month now, and as of today it still has not been done. Just a word of warning for those who may do business with them.

Capital One sucks. I had a second mortgage with them one time and they applied 4 payments to the wrong account and I didn't find out until I was served papers by a city constable. Luckily, I was able to get it all straightened out and corrected but it was a pain in the arse nonetheless.

Thanks for the tip. I was actually interested in refi with them due to the amount of bonus points I was gonna get on my credit card. My credit card is with them and I've always been pleased.

There mortgage company is horrible/sucks!
I paid off a home equity loan with them in December. Just received the paperwork YESTERDAY that they send the payoff docs to the Clerk of Court.
My poor lender and attorney had HELL trying to get documents to proceed with the closing.
I still use them for my personal and business accounts. But NOT home finance.
