That’s heart breaking. Anyone but your child.

Does your relative happen to own a jewelry store?

Of course he can't.
These threads always out the idiots.

Look at the funding numbers by cancer type. Breast cancer research is more than twice what testicular research funding is. Breast cancer research funding sucks plenty of money out of other potential targets. Call it big advertising directing cash.
Testicular cancer cure rates are higher than breast cancer and occurs over an order of magnitude less than breast cancer in any given year.
Yes, advertising does direct dollars, but what a bad example to pick.

Prostate cancer would've been a somewhat better example ( for obvious reasons), but this board isn't exactly filled with Einsteins.

It's also impressive how many people here don't understand clinical research in the slightest, yet still make assertions about how it works.
For the people saying they're hiding a cure, there's no way to verify a cure without good clinical trials. These trials invariably involve many different parties in the process, and keeping that many people quiet just isn't reasonable. Otherwise, this "cure" they have locked away in the lab is just some untested medication.

They are not going to allow us to cure cancer.
Book it.
Book it.

My mother told me over 40 years ago that a cancer cure will never be found because there’s too much money for research. What’s the incentive to cure if you get paid millions to keep researching.

CAR-T cell was sounding promising to me until i read an article about Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS) and associated death rate.

I'm hoping for better results for radioembolization for MBC in the liver, that would be great breakthrough...

Smells like bs. I posted the profit margins of two of the largest.

Obviously they always throw radiation and chemo at the problems, but immunotherapy, precision medicine, CAT-T cell therapy seem to be having some interesting breakthrough's of late. I recently had a physical and during the labs, I was curious as to why they can't find cancer in your blood. Turns out they sort of can with these liquid biopsies. Why they don't screen it along with all the other shite they're looking for, I'm not sure. I guess cost.. But hopefully we're moving to that being kind of routine.
There are some cancers that can be detected by a CBC(complete blood count) for leukemia and lymphoma. A high white blood cell count could be a signal for a disease or something else.
Conversely, a low red blood cell count could mean trouble.
A PSA blood test could point to the possibility of prostate cancer.
There are new tests that are out there that can give clues to cancers. Really they are just 'markers' that give medical providers clues.
quote:
Does early cancer show in blood work?
Most cancers don’t show up in routine blood work. But there are specialized blood tests that can detect early-stage cancers in some people:
•The Galleri test: This specific type of blood test can detect over 50 different types of cancer. It uses DNA sequencing to find unique patterns, which may tell your provider whether you have cancer and where it started.
•Proteomics-based plasma test: One 2024 research study found that a new blood test may show promise for the early detection of 18 different types of cancer. (Proteomics is the study of cell proteins and how they work.) In this study of 440 individuals, the test detected 93% of Stage I cancers in males and 84% of Stage I cancers in females. Researchers need to run more studies, but this blood test could become a standard for cancer diagnosis.
Results of these tests must be interpreted cautiously, and implications for further testing and treatment must be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider.

Sorry to hear about your buddy.
I lost my Mother to colon cancer years ago and it still stings.
I am no expert in all this and not a medical professional.
I get a prostate exam yearly. Yep, the ole finger test
I get the colon rotor-rooter test every 5 years. I had one last year and they found several polyps in me. Several were pre-cancerous. The other were benign. Doc removed them all and I have to go back in 3 years.
TBH though, I put the colonoscopy off a couple of years past the 5 year window. If I would have waited a year or so, I would probably be diagnosed with colon cancer.
I am scheduled for a yearly 'wellness test' this week. Gonna get Doc to check all the usual stuff, along with going to the cardiologist to get some heart tests.

I hear ivermectin works well against cancer.
