True but knowing how to express that in a mathematical expression is just as important. Imo though.

not if A) the point is to see how people think quickly and B) you get the wrong answers when you apply math.

Still makes no sense.

Bat is $1.00 more than the ball.

If ball is $.05, then $.05+$1.00=$1.05.

The problem states that combined they cost $1.10, not $1.05.

Same problem with different numbers: you and I got to an LSU game. We bought tickets separately. Combined, we paid $75, but you paid $50 more for your ticket than me. How much was my ticket? $25, but I sat in the corner of one of the upper decks and you were on a 40 about 25 rows up.

$75-$50=$25.

Brah the ball costs .05 and the bat costs 1.05

I think you failed

Or in my example the bat costs 1.00 and the ball is free and there's 10% sales tax

No. If the ball is 0.05, and the bat is 1.00 more than the ball then the bat is 1.05. 0.05+1.05=1.10.

1. Bats are male cis constructs, question is irrelevant due to phallic-ness.

2. Assuming "machines" means "slaves" then the answer is infinity because white greed will never be quenched.

3. 24 days

X(ball) + X+$1(bat) = $1.10
2X + $1 = $1.10
2X = $1.10 -$1
2X = $.10
X = $.05
Ball = $.05
Bat = $.05 + $1 = $1.05

Each machine takes 5 minutes to make a widget, so if there are 100 machines working on 100 widgets simultaneously then it takes them 5 minutes to complete the 100.

I got it wrong at first too but if the ball costs 10 cents and the bat was a dollar more ($1.10) the total would be $1.20.
