Can we get a sticky on the ins and outs of dealing with flood damage?

Got water in my house. How far should I cut the sheetrock? Do I wait for an adjuster? Were the insurance companies generally hard or easy to deal with? It would be a big help to know from people who have done it.

I would also appreciate similar guidance for those of us who will have to rely on FEMA assistance. I imagine it's not going to be a quick process, but I will want to start on some repairs.

We should open up the Flood Board back up from like 2011(?).

Before removing anything, document water lines, damaged property, etc. There are some guidelines online about mitigation for floods, but document the damage first.
