Why don't you call up the DA handling your case and work out a deal?

That's why I made this thread, I have no idea whats going on, what to do, or where this is going.

I've never been in this position before. Outside of a couple speeding tickets I've never been in any kind of legal trouble in my life. I don't know much about law or how the court system works.

I was hoping I would get something like that my way, I would definitely take it, even if I didn't do any damage to the vehicle, I just want this to be over with.

You can find out the extent of the damage during discovery.

What you really need to do is meet with the DA, show him your original thread on the OT, and let him know in no uncertain terms that there is an army of OT lawyers at your disposal. The ball is in his court

super low level misdemeanor huh?

Starting to sound like you may have already gotten your plea deal with a "super low level misdemeanor".

Still something I am considering, but I want to accept a job offer first. If I have to move for work I don't want to have to deal with an interstate legal case.

“I just want to know what case the state has against me.“

You can ask the state for this information and copies of documents.

At the next hearing, bring anyone with you you intend to use as a witness. Have them ready to go, and when the Judge calls your case, tell him you are ready.

Could be leverage. Do some legwork and find video evidence of the altercation. And if the DA has it, it's also your right to get that copy.

Argue for a mutual dismissal.

This is helpful, thanks.

I have about 3:30 of the altercation on video on my phone, the early stages before it got real phsyical. I was body slammed WWE style to the pavement and hit my head so hard I was knocked out for a few seconds, had a knot in my head that was there for a week, and likely a concussion. Bruises and cuts all over my body that I took pictures of, and a sprained wrist most likely.

EMTs who arrived wanted to take me to the hospital and I waived that because I just wanted to go home at that point. Then they came back and again strongly suggested I go to the hospital and I said no.

I was the one who called the cops. I could have easily fled the scene but didn't because I wanted to get justice for the security guys who roughed me up and almost hit me at the intersection. Even if I did damage their truck, it didn't warrant the response I got.

So to see the prosecutor I just need to go to the courthouse and talk to the right people to set that up?

I'd likely call the prosecuting agency to set up a meeting or something. Be aware that prosecutors hate talking to pro se defendants and that you should treat your conversation as if you're giving him evidence to use against you (like with cops).

Alright, all good help here.

Just wanted to make sense of my court appearance today as I thought today would bring more clarification, not more confusion

Thanks everyone

They are cataloging your OT posts and they will be used against you, Seinfeld-finale style.

You can still go see someone. Describe the initial event and how you felt for the days after.

And that you're having trouble with mild dizziness and strong headaches still...

So you showed up w/o an attorney? An attorney would have objected to the delay and if the DA wasn't prepared the judge could have thrown it out.

Penny wise/ pound foolish.

how is it flimsy when you already admitted to punching the vehicle?
