"St George" is a fabricated "city" that would be larger in area than Baton Rouge. It would cut the parish in half between two cities.

Why is this a problem?

Of course not. But it would have been more relevant to the truth

because you're constantly harping on that same thing, over and over like someone is magically going to all of a sudden listen to you and rethink their position.

Two governments, two permitting agencies, double the local government, more taxes, less cooperation between areas....nah, what could possibly be a problem with that?

oh come on. I'm not stupid enough to jump into your little hobby of making yourself look like a fricking idiot on this board over this issue. You know as well as I do that the new city would result in a new district.

I don't see a problem. There's more than one city in the parish where I live. I don't see the growth in Broussard/Youngsville hurting Lafayette any.

You'll never admit it, but several other posters on this board and the Poli Board have said my reviews of the finances of cities in Louisiana convinced them the SG proposed budget is a fabricated lie and that more taxes will definitely be needed to support both a new city and a new school district, in spite of the denials of the SG leaders.

So....there!

The leaders know this isn't the case but I think they play on peoples emotions. I think a lot of people in the St George area incorrectly think that students are being bused in from North Baton Rouge and this is one of the reasons they support a new school district. I think the SG leaders are a-ok with them having the wrong idea.

I don't think its racist to be for St. George or against desegregation, but it is sort of cute that Saint George is an anagram for segregation.

Those are tiny towns up against one city, and neither appear to want their school district.

So the question goes back at you....why do you care what happens in EBR parish with St George?
