Yes, I've had an abdominal ultrasound and HIDA scan and both were normal, but I still think this could have something to do with it.

One of many about artificial sweeteners modifying gut bacteria. This has been proven to happen in rats studying a gut bacteria strain that is also present in humans in the same capacity: LINK

The fungus is a general health issue affecting millions. It isn't harmful to reduce the fungus in your gut and is a simple, healthy thing to do. Fungus has been linked to tons of gut issues including colitis and crohns:

There is some good fungus to be had but not many ways out there to supplement the good fungus yet. Reducing the bad fungus is becoming a bigger issue by the day.

I just started taking fiber gummies and its incredible what they do for me. Also, for days like gamedays and Mardi Gras and stuff where I know I wont have access to a clean bathroom I take 2 or 3 Immodium to make sure I don't need to go

magnesium will just make you go even more

Not true. At first it will likely make a person go more but as your gut balances out, it will also result in balancing you out. It helps cleanse toxins out of the gut while also boosting oxygen levels in the blood.

I started with a mag supplement at 190mg/day and that was more than enough to get me going regularly and more than that would cause movements to happen more than 1 or 2 times per day. As my gut health improved I'm now to the point I can take 500mg or more in a day with no increase in activity.

On the flip side, my wife has had issues every since she had her gallbladder removed of having to go too often each day. 180mg/day keeps her regular at 2 times per day.

Too much supposition in that paper. 'Could", "maybe", etc. They try to link it speciously to all manner of illnesses. Autism? The main increase in the diagnosis of autism is the expansion of the definition and increased awareness.

It is not "proven", it was one study. The studies are all seemingly done by a group of Israeli scientists who are early in this process. More research needs to be done for this to be convincing.

I don't know. Those are pretty much the go-to tests for gallbladder trouble. I've heard of people being diagnosed via CT scan, but if your ultrasound showed no stones and your HIDA scan showed ejection fraction in the normal range, I'm not inclined to believe it's your GB. For what it's worth, I had my gallbladder removed in 2016. I had a normal ultrasound but ejection fraction of only 13%.

In my experience, medical doctors aren't all that helpful for GI issues that don't fall into a particular set of symptoms. Just because you don't have gallbladder disease, Chrones, cancer, diverticulitis, etc doesn't mean you have a healthy digestive system. You are likely to get labeled as having "IBS" which is like a catch all term for people who either have frequent abdominal pain/diarrhea or constipation after meals.

How old are you? Our bodies lose the ability to digest as we age. That is where digestive supplements can be beneficial. My mother has trouble digesting anything containing milk, so if she knows she's going to drink a glass of milk or have ice cream, she takes a tablet and doesn't have any problems.

I would start with the fiber first. Fiber slows the digestive tract and ideally you won't be running to the bathroom 20 minutes after a meal. If that doesn't work, try digestive enzymes and probiotics.

I don't think any study would convince you, no matter how good the protocols.

People should pursue all options, study and find what works for them. You're just discouraging the scientific method of trial and observation. The world needs a hell of a lot less experts like you.

Quite the opposite. I want more research before it's claimed as fact.

Absolutely, after a consultation with a medical professional.

Simply untrue. For example, I recognize that St.Johns Wort has antidepressant properties. Conversely, it appears Omega 3 isn't as helpful as I once believed.

Considering they are the designated profession to work on the ill and injured, both terminal and not, I am completely SHOCKED by this revelation. Next thing you'll tell me is that my vet kills more dogs and cats than anyone else. And that mechanics kill cars. That's crazy to consider. How did you ever come up with such a revelation?

We should just do away with the medical profession and its research entirely. That would surely result in more saved lives and a longer life span for most people in this country.

Insightful, insightful point you make.

I'll be 45 in December. I can't tolerate milk or ice cream.

I thought fiber made you go more often, not less??

I think it depends. Fiber adds bulk to your stool. If you are having problems with diarrhea, in theory, adding fiber should add more consistency to it to the point of where you're not having to run to the bathroom as much.

I recommend IBGard. It is a capsule of purified peppermint oil. I was amazed at how effective it was to provide relief from IBS. It was recommended to me by my gastroenterologist and after taking it only a few days, I endorse it completely.
