From a SHOULD standpoint I think there should be consistency with the laws regarding murder and should be based on species. Murdering a HUMAN LEO should be the same crime as murdering ANY OTHER HUMAN. Murdering a DOG K-9 should be the same crime as murdering ANY OTHER DOG.
You typed caps in certain parts.. We should adopt your point of view .
To answer the original question, no... Not the same.

Probably most.

A funeral for a fricking dog? Seems like a waste of tax payer money.
But I forget how much you white people love their dogs.

Police dog does not equal police officer. Or at least they shouldn't.
They're dogs. All they understand is that if they do certain things they will get treats. Just like your dog who gets praised for going outside to poop.

Might be a rental (yes, you can rent caskets)

Depends on the State. Here your getting 10yr on up.
I ran police dogs for years and yes they do have a soul.
I'd also point out that they generally are better than people in most circumstances.
However in the end its a dog.

See LSA RS 14:102.8 - Injuring or Killing of Police Animal
Not limited to dogs...horses too. And yes, it is a felony

A small, cheap wooden box would've been sufficient. It's a dog.

That's your opinion and it is not shared by others. These guys have a differing opinion and I do understand that you are here to shite on folks that don't agree with you.
ETA: I think I may have you confused with another poster though so accept my apologies if so. I don't find it ridiculous to honor the dog this way if that's what the police officers want to do. I'd prefer that they rent the casket though.

I don't believe in wasting taxpayer money on frivolous things like elaborate funerals for a damn dog.
