Lived there and hated it. I work there a few months out of the year, now, and enjoy it. Good luck.

Why did you hate living there?

Keep north of 595. Boca Raton, Coral Springs , Coconut Creek. Winter gets crowded

Stay in broward. Less property taxes than say south Palm Beach county.

ETA: I'd avoid cooper city as well and look in coconut creek

My wife is from Weston. Probably the best suburb around there--super clean, great schools, basically a master planned suburb carved out of the Everglades. Personally, I would prefer living closer to the beach.

I would not recommend Cooper City. If you want to be close to Ft Lauderdale, check out Coconut Creek, Parklawn, Weston, Coral Springs.

The gf is from Davie. I really don't like that area. Traffic is crazy, 595 sucks, people aren't too friendly, and most of the people down there speak Spanish primarily. There is a lot of stuff to do there tho. You should spend some time there and see how you like it.

Im a bit north of you in northeast FL, but you need to consider your enjoyment of water and climates. Hiking is really hot, but boating is great. Not much terrain, very flat, but terrific rivers, ocean, gulf, and natural springs if you enjoy the water. Different beaches as well. Good luck in your decision.
