You're lacking in the knowledge of history I see. You realize most of the Midwest is German and Scandinavian heritage right?
As is a lot of the Acadian towns in LA, Cajun Prarie area is mostly German heritage.

I take it you have been a coma the past few decades
Majority of influx across the southern border and the previous generations are assimilated and speaking English and let their second language die off. North Dakota is quite literally the last place in the Midwest they can get to so it makes sense that they would be the latest to flip

Maybe because that state has more people of German heritage than the states around it. It really is not that hard to figure.

The majority of Americans have German ancestry, but the prevalence of German language speakers was depressed during WWI, with the couple hundred German newspapers closing. There still remain pockets of German speakers. North Dakota obviously doesn't have the population density, so the groups of people that speak it are, I'm guessing, probably linked to some Anabaptist group that remained relatively self-contained, since they speak a Tyrolean dialect from Bavaria.

It’s a good thing North Dakota doesn’t border Louisiana, Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine, lest those states be in constant state of surrender to the North Dakotans.
