No argument there.

People need to get out more and make their own opinions
Yup. People on this board too. If they visited, they’d be astounded by all the Cali baws out here.

If you are bored in CA, that is your own fault. No other state can you go from surfing on some great beaches to snow skiing in mountains within a few hours of each other.
Too bad liberals have turned parts of it into a shithole.
This. All of this.

Love it for the most part. Family is here and it's gorgeous. I can be at the southern entrance of Yosemite within a hour of my house. The Sierras are snowcapped and completely visible from my bedroom. Lakes are super close. Anything you could want to do outside is right here in our backyard. Crime is super low and the homeless are nothing like what you see in the Bay or SoCal.

My wife insisted on going to the super bloom a few years ago. Tons of traffic for a few seconds of looking at the fields.
People were trampling all over it too.

It's a super bloom. Happens about once a decade.
quote:
About once a decade...
...the deserts and grasslands of Southern California come alive with a profusion of wild flowers so vast they cover hundreds of square miles. So vast they can be easily tracked from space . These rare natural flowering events, which last for up to two months, are informally called " superblooms ."
Superblooms are rare because getting exactly the right conditions is hard. You need rain, at least 200% of normal. But just as importantly the rain needs to come at the right times. Even more so, the rain needs to be spread evenly across the winter rainy season, which runs October to April. Any cold snaps or prolonged dry spells will stop the flowers. Any torrential downpours can wash away the seeds. Any early spring heatwaves and it'll fizzle. All of these conditions aligning only happens, on average, about once a decade in Southern California.

This was the stupid arse traffic we fought all the way from Hermosa Beach to somewhere around Palm Springs just to see some flowers

Spent a lot of time with family in La Jolla and vacations in the Bay Area. Amazing state. There really isn’t anything else like it in our country.
If there were a group of people who should understand that there’s more to a place than memes and narratives, it should be southerners. But unfortunately, no.
The people in California have always stood out as a major plus of the place. Not a negative.

I definitely don’t miss the traffic out there.
In some ways you get use to it, but it still eats your day away.

Appreciate the info.
Spent some time around SLO, Pismo Beach and was blown away by how much a single wide trailer in a trailer park in that area sells for…and cops chasing a guy across beach and tasing him…4 wheelers up and down the beach…and homeless camped out all over…:great place to visit as a whole but not my idea of the American dream,

Exactly…I would hike up and down the beach and to the wharf area and loved the ocean and sunsets but man…actually depressing driving through Pismo proper or towns just east off the interstate.
