cable/internet/phone are OUT (charter/spectrum)

apparently a node is blown and has taken down my whole street
my kids are freaking out (which in turn is upsetting the wife)
I just told my 11 year old son, "When I was a kid, we only had SIX channels, three of which were UHF and didn't always come in very well; and there were many times when NOTHING that I cared to watch was even on!"
he just looked at me like I was from another planet...

Fire up the netflix on your phone and cast it to your tv.

I don't care enough to get involved, I told my boy that now would be a good time to read a book, but my wife is fricking with hotspots and Netflix...

we had ABC,CBS & NBC on VHF & 3 UHF channels
this was metro Atlanta

When the tornado hit Ruston last month we didn't have any damage, but our cable and internet were out for most of a week. They would get it back on for an hour, and it would go off for a day.
All week people around the country were seeing what the damage looked like on the Weather Channel. I could only watch it on my phone. I bought a cheap digital antenna, but none of the stations came in clear enough to watch them.
We never lost electrical power until they started working on peoples lines in other parts of town. It went off four or five times during the week for an hour or so, and then came back on.
We were lucky. The tornado hit a couple of blocks East of us, then veered further North, and East.
