It seems like a better deal than MSRP would be possib

Have your builder buy them in his account and pay the builder. It won't be anywhere near MSRP.

Personally, I would go local ...Appliance Distributors or Stanton's

You're shopping at the right place.

See if you find stuff at Lowes. They price match plus additional 10%.

. They also have high inbound freight and delivery cost

High compared to what? Every business I have looked at is seeing delivery/freight drop significantly due to lower oil prices - even ones using common carrier.

When I did my kitchen back in 2011 I bought a full set of appliances from appliancesconnection.com. It worked out great. The prices were right and you can order them installed or not, whatever your preference. They're all still going strong.

That wasn't true at all with my builder. His price was the same as mine.

What you can do is ask for a change of address package from the post office. It includes a 10% discount coupon for Lowe's. Combine that with a Lowe's credit card (5%). And Lowe's and all the others run sales on some models so everything I bought already was over 10% off the usual price (usually 15% - 20%).

Doing all that might get you close to 30% off.

I know for a fact they are working around 15-20% on the everyday brands and 18-25 on the high end brands. They are some products that will allow higher margins but not very many. I was in the industry and dealt on both the sales and purchasing side of things
that is not what I consider slim margins. That's pretty healthy IMO

Still in line with any other distribution business. There is room to move at those margins

Wolf, sub zero and miele are factory minimum resale price ..
Sub Zero / Wolf is undisputed leader in luxury brand appliance ...both for performance and resale... don't believe me, ask Napoleon... dealers are making 22 points on wolf/sz...only way to get better pricing is look for floor sample clearance ..should be able to get 15-20 percent off because dealers receive floor display allowances..normally piece has to be on display 2 years before dealer can sale at discount..those are the factory rules.. however, as they say "rules made to be broken"..you can usually negotiate free installation fwiw...
