Would you pay LA sale price tax where you are registering it or taxed on KBB value? Srs question. Different for used car vs new car?

Most dealers are well versed in the process. I bought one in Dallas and one in Houston and they sent all the paperwork to the LA OMV for me. Plates came in the mail about a month later
