this is the case for a lot of Burger Kings. McDonalds does the research on where to place a restaurant, and Burger King sets up shop across the street from them

You'll wait an hour, then they will tell you they are out of meat and onions.

I watched a grown man try to eat 100 bk nuggets the other night.

He failed. I made 50 bucks

I'm trying to find the "clever" angle with this stunt, and can't come up with anything honestly.
And this won't steer away people already eating at McDonald's unless they have people at the McDonald's doors that tell customers about the BK deal. (which OBVIOUSLY is NOT an option )
So what's the angle here?

Walt, how much fast food do you eat a week? I’m genuinely curious

Sure, but don't you think they'll lose some of the customers that go TO McD first?

I parked in the McD’s parking lot and attempted to use the app.

The POS won’t save my credit card info. Errors out every time saying “there was an error processing your card info.”

After the 13th attempt I just said frick it and walked into the McD’s to order there instead lol.

Lmao at this backfiring catastrophically for BK as it just did in my case.

BK & McD are separated by like 500 feet

This bad/weird marketing idea just reminded me about the time BK tried this...

Burger King geofenced McDonald’s locations all across the country, so when you open the Burger King app close enough to one of Mickey D’s decidedly Whopper-free eateries during the promotion, the app will unlock the one-cent Whopper deal. After you place your order, you’ll be “detoured” away from McDonald’s to the nearest Burger King to pick up your penny prize.

And they think McDonald’s is going to just sit there and take that? Huge dick move

Congrats to BK on capturing the unemployed people with smart phones market. Brilliantly played.

McDonald's responded with a one-cent shake promotion. The catch? You have to be near a shake machine that works.

Big day for me. I’ll be getting several at different locations. I plan to eat on them throughout the week.

This. Every time there’s a fast food deal like this me and my fellow teachers will hit up every restaurant in a 5 parish radius. Our salaries are so low we have to take every deal we can get

When a typical McDonald's customer sees how crowded the McD parking lot is with regulars and BK deal people, they'll choose another place for lunch.

ETA - Maybe?

This will work for a lot more people than some will think. This is pretty good. They should work on finding a niche though. Arbys and Wendy's have done well with social media

It requires you to upload your credit card information to the Burger King app?
