Elem. And I was one of the few white kids in school ( yeah I know, mow your lawn ) in the 4th grade there were these black girls that been held back a few years.

They would be the everloving shite out me almost every day after school, I would just stand there and take a beating. When my Dad found out and was questioning me I reminded him he had told me, "never run away from a fight" and "dont hit girls"

I never started a fight and was never bullied. I stopped a couple of kids from getting bullied so I guess I was a sheep dog.

When I was real little I got into a lot of fights because older kids thought I was an easy mark. I distinctly remember my first day at school in kindergarten, an older kid... maybe four or five years older, walked up to me at recess and beat the crap out of me for no reason.

It turns out that was a pivotal moment of my childhood. I decided I would never lose a fight again, and I never did. From that point on, I just never held back. Anyone who picked on me or any of my friends got the asskicking of their lifetime from me. By the time I was a teenager, word had gotten around that I shouldn't be messed with. So I made it through my teen years, and many decades since without a single fight. And I'm glad for it.

Grew up with the same kids from kindergarten to 12th grade so nothing either way. All the benefits of growing up in a small hick town in louisiana

In truth though i do feel for young kids that didn't have the benefit of growing up like i did. Having to meet new people when changing schools and heaven forbid if they are different. Sad really the suicide rates of such young kids. If i ever caught any of my kids bullying someone then they would catch hell from me because its not right.

You have a personal choice to make you're either going to be the bat or the ball. I decided to be the bat.

I got bullied few times growing up. I was usually the youngest in my grade. But the bullying didn't really start until high school(started public school). Luckily friends from the neighbor hood saved my arse last minute.
NOBODY BULLIED ME IN PRIVATE SCHOOL

Up until age 8, I was never bullied. Age 9-11, this new kid came to school who became the class bully. Some people got it much worse than me but I got some of his ire, too. The worst thing He did was break his sister's arm.
I never tried fighting him because that would have ended badly.

In 7th grade this one guy wouldn't stop giving me shite. Every fricking conversation. Never physical though so we never fought. Would've been a fairly even fight, I think.

Fortunately I didn't encounter any bullying after that.

Nice - would have given more than one upvote, but it wouldn't let me...

the bullying thing is way overrated

my sister told me some kid bullied her son, i asked her what he did, because they were mad at him and was lecturing him. She tells me, kid continued to pick on him, so he grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into a steel pole in basement of the preschool.

I said good, thats how you deal with a bully. They disagreed, i said, did he stop bullying him? they said yes, and mentioned how the bully apologized and they became friends.

So i said, why the hell is he in trouble then, he fought back and learned a valuable life lesson.

I always taught him, if anyone is messing with you, kick or punch them in the balls as hard as you can. They will quickly learn a life lesson.

Agree 100%

Private school was light years better than public. Granted, that goes with the socioeconomic differences/divisions.....
