A friend of ours owned a rodeo.

I asked him one time why the bulls didn't kill each other like many male animals do to establish who's the top of their herd. He laughed and said "they're just ole rodeo bulls, gentle as puppies when they aren't in the ring. Real easy to handle. But when they are in the ring, watch out."
