If you read the article, they had to modify it in different ways and strip its guts to make it run that fast. It's not a factory Bugatti

Added a roll cage, that may have added weight?

meh. A friend of mine had a modded Skyline that hit 300 at Sebring about 10 years ago.

Is that fast enough to steer a hurricane away from the US?

Not a chance.

That thing looks like somebody's idea of what a 2037 Trans Am looks like in a 1990's movie about the future.

The GTRs do well in the 1/2 mile (up to about 250) but the 1st gen Ford GT is the king of the mile and the record is 300.4 mph set earlier this year by M2K.

Sounds travels at different speeds depending on the humidity and altitude. 300mph is prolly Mach 1 in the swamps.

Everyone with a corolla or F150 claims they do 180mph so I’d expect 300 from a hypercar

s the price the price on stuff like Jags, Porsches, Ferraris, etc or is there room for negotiation?
Depends.
New bodystyle (2020 Vette, 2015 F-Type Coupe), generally full MSRP.
I'm hearing some discounts on 2019 Porsche (3-5%), but I'm not sure that will carry over to 2020.
You can always get a break on something in stock, but you'll have to travel to get it, if you want a particular color or option. BMW seems to be most willing to deal.
No idea on Ferrari. I assume those buyers just have their admin pick it up for them.
Quite a bit of those cars (not Corvette, which really isn't the same) are leased.

Every clown with a jacked up, big tired, 12" exhaust through the bed Duramax claims it will do 150 "easy".

Going high speed in a pickup, esp. if it has a lift, is no fun.
They tend to get light in the front.
So I've heard.

Those clowns don't understand aerodynamics at all.
Doubt gearing is taken into account either.
Only the guy that reflashed their truck tells them it now has 700HP.

Depends.
As you alluded to it all comes down to allocations vs customers.
You can get a decent discount on Porsches on the lot but who does that. The high allocation Porsches can still see a discount even ordering but the GT cars are a different story you are just happy to get an allocation and pay what is required.
Ferrari's are notoriously difficult to buy new the waitlists are usually long especially for the 8 cylinder cars and you may not be able to even get on the "real" waitlist unless you have bought from the dealer previously*.
At the end like everything else supply and demand rule and it isn't just with premium line cars either, the PT Cruiser was getting market adjustments of up to 50% when they first came out in some of the "surfing" markets.
*The Ferrari waitlists have softened in the last 10 years arguably as a result of Lamborghini "flooding" the market and the fact they are so much more reliable than they used to be.

Holy crap that’s fast.
I would love to drink a car at that speed. The power in that car would be incredible

Yeah, allocations are key.
It is hard to buy a 911 in Louisiana unless you are willing to wait or take what they have.
Very small selection.
