I would bet money that Bucee's tried to get some kind of corporate welfare out of those two states like they are IBM or Apple. Mississippi and Louisiana told them to pound sand....cause there are a fricking gas station.

Or maybe they decided to skip these two trashy states

That's right. I thought they backed out because the area flooded too. But, that's not why they backed out. They backed out because DOTD would not grant them the type of access that they wanted.

More likely its due to the poor quality of service industry employees in La.

Its a gas station

It's pretty sad this dumping site of a state can't even attract a fancy gas station.

The location they choose initially was a stupid place for what amounts to a large travel stop.

it was implied that Buc-ees backed out of BR because DOTD would not grant them the desired access that they were requesting for the property. If that is accurate, then we, as citizens and tax payers of BR and Louisiana should be LIVID!

Don't know if this is true or not. But LA DOTD is one of the most incompetent useless government agencies in America.

There is an event facility in St. Bernard called Docville. St Bernard Hwy, a state highway, runs through it. The facility is getting more popular and wishes to build an additional parking area across from the main place. DOTD apparantly has to grant them access to tie the driveway for the new parking lot into the highway so you can reach the lot. They refuse to do so. They say it's a "safety" issue but yet the parking lot on the original side with the buildings has no such issue.

I don't get the hating on Buc-ees.

yes, it's a gas station. But as gas stations go... it's the best we have in the south. Huge facility, lots of pumps, no 18 wheelers, great food options to grab and go, and the bathrooms are clean as a whistle.

The 6K Sq Ft RaceTrac locations are nice. New Buc-ees stores are about 55K square feet... or 9 times the size of the nice RaceTrac stores.

I've never been to one of these joints but the OT threads got my interest - the entire operation sounds top notch and I wish we had them where I drive long trips.

Why this place sh*ts on something good, I'll never know.

I don't think anybody really hates it. It's a fricking gas station.

You Texans are taking this a little personally.
