Damn that's rough! I can imagine the amount of time and $ they dropped into this project.

I've always heard that tail draggers are very hard to operate on landing.

Can you imagine being at your house, looking up and seeing the German symbol on a Focke Wolf. I'd probably be very nervous :)

Damn. That's the Focke Wulf. Very rare warbird that is being refurbished at BTR.

Yep, that's PAI Aero's very expensive Focke Wulf. I feel for them, it takes some guts to operate a plane like that: LINK

That guy let me sit in the cockpit once when it was still in restoration a few years back.

Damn, that's a warbird.

A WW2 German plane by the looks of it. It will be fixed back up though.

ETA- I see the info posted about it now. I remeber a thread about it a while back. A very sweet plane. I would feel weird having a swastika on my plane. I would want to get a smiley face or a FDL to cover it up.

Is that P51 still sitting on the ramp out there? Story I heard was that the guy restored it and went up to fly it once. When he landed he was so scared shitless that he was white as a ghost and it's been sitting g there ever since.

I haven't been to the airport in a while but I think the p51, b25, and t28's are not there anymore.

I wouldn't if I was rich enough to have one. I would fly it proudly? Is that a Fokker Wolf or Meschershnit (sp)?

The P51 was dismantled and shipped over to someone in Europe that bought it.

P-51s are 'common' in private hands. I hate to call a million dollar+ warbird common, but you can always find one or two listed at any time. German aircraft is hard to come by.
There was a similar plane on Controller.com recently.
Forgot what they were asking, I think $2m (Folke-Wolf)

Ha! I was driving south on I-110 and am used to seeing planes all the time. Today I saw a plane that was different and thought it looked like a WWII fighter. It was definitely coming in too fast when I saw it. Landing gear looked really cool.

This is what happened to the Mustang for those interested.

LINK

It just sat and rotted out on the ramp the whole time I saw it at BTR. She's in a better place.

It was a WWII era plane that ran off the runway. No injuries.

FW-190. Only seven left flying. Glad the plane wasn't destroyed.

Messerschmitt. Though the Focke Wulf was the superior fighter, the 109 has always been my favorite non-American fighter.

False, my father attempted to charter it for my brother's HS senior present in 1986. They wouldn't let him ride in it because he was under 18. They chartered the B52(?) bomber instead.
