I watched the video as well as a few others posted to his IG in recent months. He looked a little better than I imagined based on the description in the OP. Guessing he has a dental implant that wasn't installed during the video. He seemed congnizant of his surroundings and wasn't completely non-verbal--especially the video of him playing with his young kid on the bed.

One of his daughters posted an IG of his birthday party recently. He wasn't verbal but he was dressed, smiling, engaged with people and seemed to be having a good time. Obviously it's tragic but he's not bedridden and didn't seem to be suffering, at least on that particular day.
nice to see the family celebrating him

I had no idea about the disease until my father started exhibiting erratic behavior. It went downhill so fast. Twenty four hours seven days a week of stress.

The family suffers so much. If you pray, pray it doesn’t touch your family.

There is a neuro specialist for Lewey Bodies at Tulane on the northshore if I recall. He was seeing a relative of mine. The relative was also in PT which seemed to help. He died last year, but not from dementia issues. It hadn’t gotten that far yet. In case you need a good doc wanted you to know where one is. Lewey Bodies isn’t very common I don’t think.

I've seen this with a family member. Rapid deterioration to say the least. On a Monday she's driving to do errands like any other day, by Friday of that week she forgot how to start a vehicle with the keys in the ignition. Would walk across the street to the bank ATM and USPS mail herself the cash she just took out. Could go on and on, but yes it tears you up inside to see that especially from a loved one that you still picture as this vivacious and life of the party person.

Cancer twice over before I want anyone I care for to suffer from Dementia. I have seen more survive cancer than any neurological disease.

yeah as it got worse with my dad, his balance got worse and went very quickly from a cane, to a walker, to a walker with wheels - and here soon a wheelchair. this is all in the span of a year or so. gonna build a ramp for the house, so we can get him in and out our house pretty easily.

i fear he will have to go into assisted living soonish, or possibly have my folks move in with my wife and I.

You didn't ask my opinion but I'll give it to you. If their mind is gone, you are much better off with assisted living. Where I think assisted living is cruel is when someone's mind is fine, but their other conditions require constant care.

My father spent waaaay too long caring for my mother and her lewey body dementia after she was so far gone she only yelled at walls and could hardly get around. In fact it was only after she took a tumble and ended up in the ICU for weeks that he finally admitted that it was too much for him, and put her somewhere with a DNR.

Why the hell are they putting this on instagram

I believe they have stated they know Bruce's celebrity may bring more research into this disease and hopefully may save people from it in the future.

And if you've ever watched a video of someone with this condition, they literally just speak jibberish. They look confident in their speech, but it comes out almost nonsensical/inappropriately timed.

A certain high level political office holder resembles that remark.

my man you are good - no offense taken.

his bad spells with memory is not too bad right now, we all know as it progresses it will get far worse. he has a laundry list of health issue son top of the dementia. he has issues with his legs, I believe they called it Neuropathy - but he was not diabetic. i could be mistaken on the name, but congestive heart failure, kidneys are only working at small amounts, and a wall on his heart is deteriorating to the point it will give out at some point.

he is too Gdam stubborn and Ornery to just give up, but he has moments he just treats my mom like shite because she wont allow him to do the things he used to, and honestly really can't anymore.

love the guy to dearth and would do anything for him, but i think we will have to have the discussion with him soon and just say here are your options - either stop being belligerent and understand we are doing what is best for you, or you will have to go to an assisted living facility full time.

we know he can't really help it due to the dementia, but treating him like a child doesn't help anythign either
