What else do they need.

BR needs a revamped public school system. That would help everyone.
BR needs more advancements to its public transit system. The city has a chance to be a southern hub. That's where it starts.
BR needs more investment in BREC. Some of the BREC parks are just BAD! SAD!

I would invest a shite tone in bellaire, capitol, glen oaks, etc...are those areas gentrified yet ?

You know these are the byproducts of southern hostility, aggression, and stubbornness against black progress. Why are you mad at the recipients. You should be asking someones granddaddy or great uncle why they supported such inhuman and decrepit institutions. Or ask them why they believed what they believe...xenophobia and fears based in no concrete facts or theories.

It's 2017 now not 1950 or before. How long can that same card continued to be played over and over and over?

What about stop looking at the past and do something about the now and future to better their own lives? Playing the card of the past is exactly what hold many of them back.

The past can't be changed or re-written but their futures can be changed if they really want it to be.

you just need to stop with the BREC bullshite.

There is a church and Brec park in damn near every NBR neighborhood. Many more that any neighborhoods in SBR and most of them are very nice.

Been to Greenwood Park in NBR lately?

Keep sinking money into this and see how it works out, just not set up to be a public transit type city.

that's because BREC is corrupt as shite handing them more money doesn't seem like a great idea.

1. Finishing high school at the very least
2. Not having children until in a stable relationship with a career
3. Personal responsibility and respect of others

And with whose money would you "invest"? And define "invest"?

Throwing money in neighborhoods won't fix the problem. Tax breaks and credits are the key. Civic wise, NBR is a very tax friendly place to do business. That was voted on and passed. But all the tax credits in the world won't convince a successful business owner to invest in a crime infested hellhole.

I agree those things need to happen but unless you change black culture they will look the same or even worse within 20 years.

No, if anything people think im Mexican. However, what is your point?

My point is the African American community has plenty of opportunity. A large majority refuses to collect that opportunity and actually promotes a lifestyle that goes against that opportunity. Which to me is absolutely the underlying issue.

Laws at the Local, State, and Federal level have given the African American community a leg up in every possible way without out right telling every other community "Sorry baws but yall gotta take one for the team."

We do. Have you read the 2016-2017 budget?
LINKTake a look at how much goes to NBR and programs for Recovery schools and Charter schools for those areas.

Southern states were fighting busing and desegregation into the 1970s. That's 40+ years.

And ultimately, I agree with you. It's just that the damage done is so deep and extensive that it permeated throughout the country. I'm talking about opportunities to build wealth. Being shut out of the GI bill, the New deal, insurance policies, higher learning opportunities, etc all which stifled and suppressed black economic progress. All those were basically handouts of free money given to the majority by our govt (it's true).

The kid that inherits a house from his family and only have to pay property taxes, or gets a $20k inheritance from his grandmother is leagues, ahead, economically, of the kid who's grandparents didn't get a chance to participate in that. That creates wide gaps...not to mention their are other things that punitively punish some people, more than others (different conviction rates, different levels of health care, different loan rates with the same credit scores.)

Yeah it's deeper than just, "let's just forget about Yesterday."

Some people are still dealing with the effects of yesterday

You are talking about a small minority. Most of the US population doesn't have 1k in their savings accounts let alone money to pass down. Pick another boogeyman.

That's awesome. My dad is dark brown, my brother is dark, my sister is tanned but more olive, and my other brother and myself are white. People used to think we were all children from different marriages.

You do realize this is south Louisiana? One of the poorest states in the nation. This is less common than you portray it to be. Most of the people are middle class and bust their arse to get what they have. I can't think of anyone in my group of friends that inherited a house. Most are home owners and pay for everything themselves from their wages.

Well thought out and written sir.

But why? That's just an excuse not to improve one's own life or a want to excel in it. It comes down to a choice that each person makes in life. We all have to make that no matter what color ones skin is.
