Sounds like the mistake was that he called in the kid dead as opposed to “mostly dead”.
And to give some context to the situation, the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone wrong and the deceased had threatened an eyewitness.

What happened, if you read the story, is that they came up on a dude sitting in a car with his brains literally blown out. Guy was in agonal respirations with no pulse. BRPD begins securing crime scene and some EMS paramedic starts basically fricking around with the dead body. Salamoni starts chewing her out for messing with the crime scene and she screams "RACISM" and says she "felt like" he called her the N word even though no such word was ever uttered.
Point of fact, the EMS girl (and not Salamoni) was the one disciplined over the incident. She had prior run ins with BRPD and was (is?) a problem employee. The Chief/Mayor and their minions are pulling out all stops to dirty up Salamoni and this is just something else they dug up from the past.

I hope Salamoni’s lawyer is taking notes here because they sure seem to be going out of their way to defame him AFTER settling the dismissal case.

Salamoni's lawyer is also lawyer for guy accused of hazing Max Gruver. Looks like a dope, but I hear he is a good lawyer.

Different guy. John McLindon handled the criminal case side of it.
This is the employment side of it. There is also the civil suit side of it. Not sure if the same attorney is handling those two things.

Look at the dates of each letter written on the incident. That will tell you everything you need to know about the incident.
Her complaint was submitted a month after Salamoni reported her behavior on that same scene.

Normally it is a high bar but they went back after the fact to edit it in a way to make him look worse.

While that union is firing back, the other union is collecting money from officers who want to grow facial hair. Cause is "police/community events, which translates to our people having parties.

Yup, except it’s easier for Paul to demonize and tarnish Salamonis name in order to appease SWB. Salamoni took a violent, drug dealing POS, sex offender off the streets permanently. Paul is trying his damnedest to flip the narrative into a race thing.
