The deal between the former officer Blane Salamoni and the department will end the drawn out appeal process and will effectively rescind his termination and allow him to resign instead.

question from the dum-dum section this way

he's allowed to keep his pension and any other benefits?

all I gathered from his pathetic speech was a bunch of heart this, lay your head on your pillow that, if you think what Blaine did was ok then you need to go home pray that.

Man,,,,shut the frick up

Those 2 officers wanted to go home to their families that night just like these officers did.

What are the details? They settled with themselves so the chief can tell his subordinates that he has their back?

Edit: he still loses his job and doesn't get back pay. The comments on Facebook made it sound like he got $1m or some BS. Not sure what the outrage is about.

He also was under investigation for a prior incident where he slapped a guy while he was on the ground handcuffed

Chief Paul says BRPD is better off with vacancies on the force than with “people who think stuff like that is okay.”

Paul says if an officer believes in their heart that Salamoni’s actions were okay, “you should consider another career.”

Lol this should sit well with the force

He was able to resign, not be terminated
Resignation means he can go to work for another dept.
Not that he will have a chance anywhere around here with the bashing they just gave him

He's not wrong, dude had issues, there also was a email where apparently he almost got into a fist fight with another officer at a training event.

Im fine with the shooting, its his other conduct thats the problem, and Id be surprised if a lot officers really supported him.

That's complete and utter horseshite. It's people like Gravy that force people into this absurd "Back the Blue" mentality regardless of any real fault. People take such hardline stances and have no ability to exhibit any nuanced thinking.

BRPD Chief "Baton Rouge, we are sorry for our failure.'

@BRPD Chief Murphy Paul to #AltonSterling family. “I’m sorry. He (Blane Salamoni) should have never been hired.” @WBRZ

Chief: change has already begun in the City of Baton Rouge. As a city we will heal...from the devastation and pain of violence.

Because he isn't in jail for murdering poor, innocent Alton.

Can he even tell us how much violence has happened in the last 6 months? I think a council member was waiting on those stats.
