Gardere was in the original petition but got dropped when they had to tighten the area for the new one, IIRC.

I know, but they were on the website I was using for stats so I listed them and they are in EBR as I noted.

I was surprised it was only 50% black. Hispanics were around 25% if memory serves.

I wouldn't take that bet, he will do as he pleases.

All he can do is drag his feet on certifying the petition and, make no mistake, if that petition was out of order, he'd have already been in front of a camera letting everyone know.

Historically, these are done through an AG opinion request, where the AG provides the Governor with a formal opinion that the petition meets the legal requirements.

I agree with Broome, we need to put this vote on a higher turnout day to make sure more people make their voice known for this big decision...just like she made sure to do with her MoveBR propos...... wait. Nope, she put the MoveBR proposal on a December ballot that received 26% voter turnout. The congressional election the month before got 54% turnout.

So what were you saying again, Mayor Broome?

I heard a TogetherBR person last week say St George property taxes could double or triple. It’s their last chance.

Double or triple and still far cheaper than Texas and we'd get an ISD? Sign me up.

Nice troll attempt! I'll be glad to sign you up for paying state income tax, triple property taxes, high tax rates, tax on groceries, etc. In your troll attempt you forgot about the lower taxes in TX and no state income tax which is a savings around $3,400 if you make 100K.

Everything you stated we already have, less the increased property taxes. I will take your location at face value and assume you live in Houston. I have family in Houston and we pay far less property tax than they do. I don't think you understand how low ours is.

Yes, I do. Owned a house in Louisiana for 10 yrs. Own a house in Houston now. It's basically a wash.

Also enjoy sending my kids to excellent public schools

I'm talking about Louisiana pays state income tax, TX does not. If you make 100K that's 3,400 extra in your TX pocket every year which you end up paying on property taxes.

It's been posted numerous times on here. When you factor in total taxes. LA ranks #27 highest, TX is #34.

Obviously hoping to push it to an election where more people would vote (like November).

Then she doesn’t know how it works (not surprising).

This isn’t a parish-wide referendum. Only the residents of the proposed City of St. George vote on incorporation, and it has wide support within the area.
