Broken ribs recovery time?

How long should I expect the intense pain to last? Doc only gave me 15 percocets so I imagine I should be able to move around with just some discomfort in a few days. I was hoping to hear from some folks that have gone through this already.
TIA

Been many years since I broke ribs but its going to hurt for a couple of weeks. Depends on where they're damaged. If it's around the sternum, expect a few days of misery, followed but a couple weeks of discomfort.

Took me a week or so where I could sleep without it hurting too bad when I moved. Standing up it was ok after a few days. At least where I could move around somewhat normal. Broke it 6 months ago and even today when exercising it will let me know it’s still there. Nothing too painful but noticeable if I move a certain way or put pressure on it. For the most part you’ll be good to go in 4 weeks or so.

About 2 months until you can run & jump like it never happened but it’s bearable for basic living after about a week

Pain will be a couple of weeks. No golf for 2 months.

6 months to a year.
It hurt to sneeze 3 months later bad!

tough injury; you'll be calling the doc to refill those 15

Always takes me 6-7 weeks until I quit thinking about them and all pain is gone.
The first 2 weeks are always the worst as you figure out what not to do.
ETA: Cracked one last November. Didn’t go to the dr. Hurt like a mother for a few days then settled down.

A doc once told me, "Don't worry, it will only hurt when you breathe or move."
He was right.
He was right.

I've had a few similar injuries and the real intense pain usually only lasts a week or so but it will take a few months to be back to normal. You rarely just break ribs; there's usually other soft tissue damage which can take even longer to heal.

Everyone’s different for ribs. I broke one back when I was 13 and it still took like a month to not hurt while breathing and 3 months to be 100%. I’ve broken 4 bones and that was by far the worst.

1-2 weeks. Cracked one in Afghanistan and that military cot probably shortened the recovery time.

I broke/cracked 2 during furlough. Intense pain for a week. Residual/intense pain for another month depending on sudden movements.
Just don’t move.
Just don’t move.
